Project Description

Skiing & Snowboarding

Skiing and snowboarding are the main reason that people come to Vail. Vail Mountain boasts more than 5,000 acres and 31 lifts. Choose from 195 trails ranging from beginner to expert. Vail’s 7 back bowls are world renown. With an average annual snowfall of 370 inches, you will never be disappointed in the snow conditions. Vail also has world class grooming for your skiing pleasure.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert skier or rider, Vail has something for everyone. Beginners and intermediates can take lessons at Vail’s world famous ski and snowboard school, which offers private or group lessons. Adult lessons are offered at Golden Peak, Vail Village and Lionshead. Vail Village does not have a childrens’ ski school, but Golden Peak and Lionshead have excellent ones. BOOK a LESSON:

If you are an expert, Vail still offers something unique and wonderful for you. Try one of 3 different on mountain adventures, Back Bowl Experience, which offers you a full day in the bowls with a guide, Early Access Tune Up , which means you get to go up the mountain with an instructor before the lifts open to the public and get a little learning in too, or try Private Experience, giving you a full day all over the mountain with a guide. Advanced intermediates would enjoy these options as well.  This is where to book one:  Click here. Even without lessons or guided adventures, a regular ski day on this fantastic mountain will leave you satisfied, happy, tired and longing for more. Come to Vail, stay at Sandstone Creek Club and experience it for yourself. The scenery is breathtaking, the skiing is excellent, people are friendly and you will feel alive again like no other place makes you feel!

Vail is part of a network of ski resorts all over the world, accessed with one of several types of “Epic” lift tickets or passes. When you come to Vail and stay at Sandstone Creek Club, you can also use your lift ticket or Epic 10 day or full pass to ski at 3 other resorts within a 30 mile radius, Beaver Creek, Keystone and Breckenridge.

Beaver Creek, Vail’s sister mountain, is a short 12 miles away. Beaver Creek has a beautiful, upscale village with many activities and an amazing mountain that is joined by catwalks and trails to 2 other villages and their runs, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead. You could spend all day at Beaver Creek and not ski the same run twice! Or choose your favorite area, many are fond of Bachelor Gulch’s intermediate trails for example, and just do laps there all day! Beaver Creek has some steep terrain in the Birds of Prey area, where each winter World Cup ski races are held. The Beav, as locals call it, has a diverse offering of beginning and intermediate trails as well, making it a favorite for families. More about Beaver Creek.

Keystone and Breckenridge are located a short drive over Vail Pass in Summit County. Keystone is known for its night skiing and Breckenridge has been loved for decades for its quaint Victorian village loaded with great shops and restaurants. Both mountains have expanded their terrain and lift systems in recent years and are great places to try out for a day while you are staying in Vail. Learn more about Keystone and Breckenridge.

Still, there is nothing like Vail. As their slogan says, Vail, like nothing on earth!

Lift tickets at Vail are not inexpensive, but they are worth it! There are no other ski resorts with the same level of skiing, service, terrain, lifts, maintenance and experiences. Gone are the days of discount lift tickets for Vail, but you can save significant money if you purchase your lift tickets in advance and in multiple days, or buy a 10 day or unlimiited EPIC pass if you are planning to return or ski another Vail owned resort in the same season. Go online to https://www.vail.com/plan-your-trip/lift-access/epic-day-compare to explore all of the different ways that you can save money on lift tickets. While you are there, you can also look at ski and board lessons and other Vail Mountain winter experiences.

If you want to try some other ski resorts while you are staying at Sandstone Creek Club in Vail, there are several others within driving distance as well. However, they are not accessible with a Vail lift ticket or pass.  Copper Mountain is just at the other side of Vail Pass. It is a great mountain in its own right, and has also recently expanded its terrain and lft system. Copper’s village has its own funky vibe. More about Copper. Closer to Keystone is Arapahoe Basin, one of the oldest ski areas around here and one of two that opens early in the season and stays open late into the summer. For more on Arapahoe Basin go to: https://www.arapahoebasin.com/. The other one of those is Loveland, which is located a bit further from Vail, on the east side of the Eisenhower Tunnel. Loveland is a great place if you love throw back style skiing, which is both funky and fun, but maybe with a little bit slower chair lifts. Explore Loveland at: https://skiloveland.com/. Arapahoe Basin and Loveland have a competion each year to see who can open earliest and stay open the latest.

If you are looking for ski and snowboard rentals for your stay in Vail, Sandstone Creek Club recommends Vail Ski Tech, https://vailskitech.com/, which is located in Lionshead Village and offers our guests a significant discount on rentals. They will store your ski for you too after a long day on the mountain so that you do not have to lug them home. They are on our first ski shuttle stop too.

Speaking of ski shuttle, Sandstone Creek Club offers a complimentary one every day of ski season. It leaves from in front of our lobby starting at 8 in the morning, running every 1/2 hour during peak times and every hour during non-peak times. The last shuttle leaves for Lionshead and the Village at 10 pm. The Town of Vail also runs a free skier bus in the winter which picks up at the top of our driveway, just in case your timing is not right for our shuttle. The Town of Vail bus runs later at night if you want to stay in the village past 10. Schedules for both skier shuttles are available at our front desk.

Sandstone Creek Club has ski lockers to store your equipment in during your stay. They are located right across from the front desk. A key will be given to you at check in if you need ski or snowboard storage.

If you want a ski trip to remember for a lifetime, come to Vail and stay in comfort at Sandstone Creek Club. We look forward to seeing you soon!
