Project Description
Hot Springs
Colorado’s variety of year-round hot springs offer relaxation, soothe muscles, and will have you marveling at how an unglamorous occurrence like geothermal activity can result in such a luxurious experience. Hot springs are one of the state’s most popular outdoor attractions, and there are few better ways to relax, especially after a long day of play in the mountains. Colorado hot springs are a must-try during your visit to Vail.

Located in Glenwood Springs (about an hour’s drive west of Vail), Iron Mountain Hot Springs offers 16 different small geothermal pools in a range of temperatures, sizes, and shapes, in addition to a fresh-water family pool with an elevated jetted spa. All pools are located on a terraced hillside overlooking the Colorado River with Rocky Mountain views all around. Also located in Glenwood Springs (about an hour’s drive west of Vail), Glenwood Hot Springs Resort offers the world’s largest mineral hot springs pool with lap-swimming lanes, a diving board, and a water slide and an additional smaller pool. In the summer, enjoy cabana rentals and the Sopris Splash Zone, which includes a whitewater tube ride, a children’s play area, and a splash pad. Treat yourself to a massage or other treatment at the full-service spa on site. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are available for purchase on site.
Strawberry Park Hot Springs <- link to https://strawberryhotsprings.com/
Located in Steamboat Springs (about 2 hours’ drive north of Vail), Strawberry Park Hot Springs offers a more authentic hot springs experience in its 3 natural pools dammed off the Hot Spring Creek. Enjoy a massage in one of their private massage huts or a watsu therapy in the private pool. Get even more natural after dark when the facility becomes adult-only and clothing optional; lighting is minimal so you can enjoy the beautiful starry sky. Facilities include restrooms, a tipi and heated cabin for changing, and picnic areas. The property is off-grid and limited concession with beverages are available. Strawberry Park would also like to remind visitors that they are cash/check only and in the winter you will need a vehicle with 4-wheel-drive and snow tires/chains to reach the property.
Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort <- link to https://mtprinceton.com/
Located near Buena Vista (about 2 hours’ drive south of Vail), Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort offers a soaking pool, an exercise pool, and creekside hot springs year round, with 3 additional upper pools, a lazy river, and a water slide available in the summer. The creekside hot springs are the highlight, each pool is fed by a natural geothermal hot spring that is bubbling up into the actual creek bed and into circles of stones that create shallow, sandy natural pools. Create your own adventure by removing or adding stones to change the temperature of the pools. Elevate your experience by booking a massage, facial, wrap treatment, or private soak. Or book a day spa pass to access additional hot springs, lockers, and towels. Breakfast, lunch, tapas, and dinner are available for purchase on site.
